I often refer to my mass photo taking habits as "documenting my life", and this, is the written elaboration of that journey. I hope you enjoy reading about the various thoughts, adventures, and encounters of my life

Looking at me

I've always noticed this, but today in particular (and last night) was interesting.

I mean, everyone's a fan of people watching. But its a whole different thing when people are 'looking' at you. As in you can feel their eyes piercing through your body with their stare.

I guess I'm an interesting specimen. Sure I get looked at because I'm a girl. Then I get looked at because I'm 'young'. Then again I get looked at because of my race. Or because I'm wearing a skirt and heels on my way to work. I find it interesting because not only are these people looking, they are also judging. Thinking about me, my life, where I'm going, and where I came from. Only things is...

They. Have. No. Idea.

The "they" I refer to is a quite speficic market. And for the sake of being PC i'm not gonna say who. I feel so under the magnifine glass, especially now that i've moved to the city. I'm constantly being watched, and I sorta wish they would just turn the channel and mind their own business.

For example: Today I went to McDonalds to use my free McCafe coupon I got a few weeks ago. At the door, I was 'looked' at (aka this guy was straight staring at me as I approached the QSR, went through the door, and stood in line) [I dont have to make eye contact, it happens so much that I just know]. Then when I left he 'looked' again. They do this with a sly smile on their face. Its quite odd.

Last night is more of an extreem example, yet relevant nonetheless.
I was walking back from my friend's on Michigan Avenue against the direction of traffic. Then, this car that drives by suddenly goes into reverse. They are alongside the curb, now moving in my direction till they caught up with me. "Hey baby....Hey hun...Hey..."

What i've learned is its best to just keep going. Don't acknowledge them and then they get bored.

Nontheless, I booked it the other 3 blocks back to my apt. Who cares that I was wearing heels.

So yeah. I just found it interesting that some people care so much to 'look' all the time. If I could conduct the ultimate experiment, I would wear makeup to change my race for a day. Or go through a day as a guy instead. It is so intersting how we treat eachother different on such a simple basis of gender, race, and style. Whaterver happened to 'not judging a book by its cover?"

Some people will never learn.

My advice. Screw the 'lookers'. If they really cared they would open up their mouth and speak.

Day 1

I've been meaning to get back into writing stuff down, and since I just stated my summer internship, I felt that it was an appropriate time to begin.

Today was my first day at DraftFCB, advertising agency downtown Chicago. I'll be working there for 10 weeks as an intern: Assistant Account Manager, on the KFC account. Its super exciting as there is alot going on right now with new products, new campaigns, and the food business in general.

My team seems really neat. When I first met them they were on a "status" phonecall with the marketing people in HQ (louisville, KY). It was neat to listen to the many different ad components they were working on, what was good/bad/and needed editing.

I share my office (aka computer lab/tech space) with Bette and Amy, two of the interns I knew prior to starting the program. I'm real excited to get things underway and really start working.

As for now, I'm starving...so it looks like tortilini, and trying to get my cable to work.

Peace, Love, & Happiness,

~Jenna
